EZDSTFTP Utility Installation Instructions

Many of our Client Data System users process data utilizing the Transaction Download Module (TDM). Recently, DST FAN Mail announced a change to the physical location of the data files. DST FAN Mail will migrate the location of the files from an IP based FTP server (207.123.13.78) to a URL based server (files.dstfanmail.com). This change will occur on September 20, 2002. Only CDS users on certain versions of the program will be affected by this change and will need to download and install the EZDSTFTP utility to continue processing data from DST FAN Mail.

--Do I need this utility?--

If you are running CDS for Windows version 2.4 through version 4.1, you will need to download this utility. The DST FAN Mail location information in these versions references the IP based FTP server and not the URL based one. To check what version of CDS you are running, go to "Help" and then "About Client Data System" from the main CDS screen.

NOTE: If you are running CDS 4.1.1 dated May 2002 or later, you will NOT need to download the EZDSTFTP utility.

--How Do I download the utility?--

Click the link on the same page as this Readme file that says "EZDSTFTP utility". You will then be prompted to open the file from the current location or save it to disk. Choose save to disk and select a location on your hard drive to save it to, e.g. “Desktop” or “My Documents”.

--How do I install this utility?--

1. Locate the file you downloaded and double-click it.

2.Double-clicking this file will launch the install shield and start installing the utility. Follow the instructions on the screen until the install finishes.

--How do I use this utility?--

1. Click on Start, select programs and then choose E-Z Data DST Utility. Choose the EZDSTFTP icon and the utility will be launched.

2. The FAN Mail User ID, FAN Mail FTP Password and FAN Mail Zip password boxes should be already filled in already. Be sure to check the AOL box if you use AOL for your Internet provider.

3. Clicking the download button will attempt a connection to DST's FTP site and begin downloading your data files. If you receive an error stating that the utility was “unable to connect and to check your username and password,” you may want to retype in your DST FAN Mail username/password information. If you have entered the correct information, the utility will begin downloading your data files

NOTE: DST FAN Mail uses random characters for your password so be sure not to mistake a letter "L" or the letter "I" with a number "1" and so on.

4. Once the files are downloaded, click the Unzip download files button to uncompress the files.

5. Now, go to the transaction download section in CDS and start running your TDM reports as normal. (The running man icon will no longer be used in CDS to download the files while this utility is in place). NOTE: You CAN have CDS open while downloading the files with the EZDSTFTP utility.
